Why get a WordPress website maintenance package?
Let’s take a look at what technical maintenance, or what we call offer website maintenance:
For a website, technical maintenance is essential, as it is linked to a database and is at risk:
– website hosting can be hacked
– your CMS installation may be infected
– the back office or administration interface can be hacked
Your WordPress website is also regularly updated, just like all the software you use every day.
Today, the majority of the web is built using CMS (content management systems, directly online). Despite their simplicity and ease of use, they often conceal a fairly sophisticated database system with a lot of underlying source code. The reality is that using a CMS requires constant maintenance to keep your website stable, secure and in good working order, just like any other software.
Viruses, hackers and malicious bots want to destroy your website
Due to the fact that they are platforms, WordPress and other CMS like Wix or Shopify are a common target for hackers, viruses, bots and other malicious actors in cyberspace. In fact, WordPress alone accounted for around 90% of all content management system sites hacked in 2019.
Imagine one day learning that your site contains malware and is dangerous. Or maybe parts of your website disappear completely. Or perhaps worse, hackers take control of your site, steal your customers’ information and degrade your site, seriously damaging your company’s brand and reputation.
Fortunately, it’s possible to counteract the majority of these security problems by simply keeping your website up to date.
Protect yourself with website maintenance
WordPress and the other CMSs mentioned above regularly receive new updates, usually several new version updates each month, which improve the security and performance of the platform. To ensure that your website remains secure, your site needs consistent maintenance of the core code as well as any plugins that may be used.
By regularly updating your website and all plugins, you ensure that your site has the latest security patches, which greatly reduces your vulnerability to common attacks. Ignore these updates at your own risk.
