offshore community management – Rida TS
What’s the role of a community manager?
A community manager is a fairly new kind of communications professional. This profession was non-existent just ten years ago. In fact, it emerged with the advent of social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. But what does this new profession entail?
The role of a community manager
The community manager must manage the brand image of the organization for which he or she works on social networks. We like to use the term “organization”, because community managers can be found in all kinds of structures. Some represent TV stars or political personalities, while others are simply there to defend the work of a company or association.
In practical terms, the community manager is often a digital communications conductor who writes and publishes content (text) on social networks. At all times, he or she must master the tone of the institution he or she represents. He’s also the one who chooses the images and videos, especially in smaller organizations. As a result, he or she often needs to be proficient in photo retouching and photo and video editing software.
Role varies from company to company
In larger organizations, an independent department takes care of content production, and the role of the community manager shifts to content moderation. Indeed, a company with several thousand employees has several in-house community managers who plan and moderate the content that has been published. Sometimes, they are simply social network professionals who must maximize the engagement and reach of publications.
They have less of a conductor’s role, thanks to the graphic designers and copywriters who work hand in hand with them. So it’s a profession that depends above all on the organization in which it’s set up. And since it’s a new profession, it’s still in full swing.
