The Websters dictionary defines a brochure as “a small printed pamphlet, usually folded, dealing with a particular subject or field of activity.”
A brochure usually has between 8 and 24 pages, but the actual number of pages may vary depending on the subject and purpose. A brochure is generally 10×7 inches, although this may vary depending on the printer and paper used.
The purpose of a brochure is to inform and promote the products or services available within an organization, and to provide information to customers.
Brochures are widely distributed to target audiences to inform them about specific products, services, features, benefits and uses of an organization’s offering.
Brochures can be used in conjunction with other forms of media, such as TV or radio advertising, magazine ads, billboards, etc.
These multiple forms of media can collectively lead customers to request more information from an organization by asking for a brochure, or by contacting it directly by phone or e-mail.
Brochures generally contain information such as :
- the company’s mission statement, history, goals and objectives for the future.
- key personnel (e.g. the Chairman or CEO).
- key financial figures (e.g. sales).
- target markets served (e.g. government agencies).
- information on the parent organization, etc.
